Summerhall Surgeries is Summerhall’s brand new artist development initiative in partnership with the Fringe Society. Running throughout August as part of the Fringe, the Surgeries will see 16 lead artists showcase excerpts of unfinished work to an audience of peers and industry figures.

This event offers a behind-the-scenes looks into some of the most innovative work coming from Scottish, UK-based and global artists. After the show, you will be able to constructive feedback to artists and participate in an informal conversation / networking session in Summerhall’s courtyard.

Summerhall Surgeries: Event Four will present the following artists and their work:

  • FAWN by Jess Brodie: tracking Fawn’s young life as she transitions from fawn to doe, this play explores what it means to be a people pleaser in survival mode.
  • Degenerate by Maria Teresa Creasey and Rebecca Reeves: an alternative comedy-horror show exploring the lengths women go to to stay young, relevant and seen in our youth-obsessed culture.
  • The Price of Happiness by Georgia Blue Ireland: an evocative play exploring class, guilt, an individual making sense of experiences had while growing up on benefits, and the interplay between surviving, living and being happy.
  • GRAFT [A North Coast 500 Play] by Jack MacGregor: a single performer drives alone, blanketed in night, descending into a place of darkness.
