Tishani Doshi shares work from her recent collection A God at the Door, alongside conversation with poet and researcher Theresa Muñoz. Tishani Doshi publishes poetry, fiction and essays. For fifteen years she worked as lead dancer of Chandralekha company in Madras, India. As such, the body has been a central preoccupation in her work—a vehicle to explore gender, violence, sexuality and power, but also as an agent of renewal and transformation. A God at the Door calls on the extraordinary minutiae of nature and humanity to redefine belonging and unveil injustice. In an era of pandemic lockdown and brutal politics, these poems make space for the return of wonder, free movement and connection to what matters most. Inviting us on a pilgrimage, this exquisite and generous collection leads us back to the sacred temple of ourselves.
