Edinburgh International Science Festival
Edinburgh International Science Festival
Each year, since 2012, we hand over the keys to Summerhall to the Edinburgh International Science Festival, reuniting the former Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies back to its scientific foundations. They turn our multi-arts venue into their Festival hub, complete with exciting shows and activities for families and young people, fascinating discussions, debates and interactive events for adults and a contemporary art programme.
The 2017 Edinburgh International Science Festival invites you to #GetConnected…to science, to one another and to the global community, to explore how science and technology can help us secure a creative and sustainable future. The Festival runs from 1–16 April with a programme packed full of shows, exhibitions, drop-in activities and special events!
Brand new for 2017 is The Experimentarium – a laboratory zone filled with hands-on activities for all ages. For a close-up look at human creativity, don’t miss the unique Edinburgh Mini Maker Faire, which returns for the fifth consecutive year on Easter Sunday as fabulous Festival grand finale. This incredible event brings together curious and creative makers from all sorts of unexpected areas to show off their exciting pieces of hardware, software, crafts, gadgets, experiments, projects and food.
So drop in to Summerhall, grab a Jack IPA, this year’s Science Festival beer by Barney’s Beer, explore the exhibition Contemporary Connections, engage in lively conversations and blast off to a better world with the fantastic selection of Science Festival events happening here at Summerhall.
