Future Get Down + Quiet, the Art
Fri 05 Jul 2024 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Future Get Down are Oliver Kass (vocals, various instruments) alongside Ally Dennis (bass, backing vocals, various instruments), Sam Bidgood (drums, percussion) and Brian Pokora (synthesiser, guitar).
Since forming in 2016, the Edinburgh group have built up an enviable reputation, with their two 2018 EPs and 2021 album garnering support from BBC 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne, Nemone, Vic Galloway and Steve Lamacq.
Quiet, the Art are a duo from Edinburgh bringing together their love of instrumental post-rock and shoegaze in a way that the Heard not Herd blog has described as ‘impossible to pigeonhole.’
Mark and Chris have been playing together for five years, and have always loved fuzzy guitar soundscapes and big drum sounds, but their new single ‘Monochrome’ is the first time these things have really come to the fore in their sound, with their earlier songs a bit more rooted in Radiohead and Interpol. Monochrome has been described as a ‘musical ball of fire’ by Rock Era Magazine, so if that sounds good to you, the band hopes you’ll love this new set list of similarly atmospheric material at Summerhall!
Support from Boardgame, an Edinburgh-based improvised electronica duo who combine modular synthesis and custom audiovisual software to create unique, breathtaking shows. This is not a DJ set.
Keith Duncan (modular synths, processed vocals) is a sound designer who has worked on several BAFTA-winning films (The Making of Longbird, Isabella and Hart’s Desire). His work has been heard at Sundance, TED and Annecy, and broadcast on MTV, BBC, Channel 4 and Adult Swim. Sam Healy (keyboards, synths, visuals) has released five studio albums as North Atlantic Oscillation, recorded several BBC 6music sessions and toured internationally with the likes of Engineers, Caribou, Bob Mould, Explosions In The Sky, Everything Everything and Ulrich Schnauss. Everything is synchronised. Nothing is predictable.
