John Hegley’s Pre-Christmas Crackers

Come along for song and verse

in Summerhall, as winter comes

for creatures small – and larger ones

then after, kindly, do disperse.

After winning a Lustrum award for his Edinburgh Fringe show, poet John Hegley returns with his mandolin for much amusement and a bit of mild melancholy. Alongside the rhymes, there will be many animal drawings in this towards-winter-warmer, which includes tales of boyhood, family fireside visits from Orpheus, John Keats, the French relatives and some camels. Suitable for anyone aged in or near double figures.

There came three Wisemen from the East

and so it came to pass

the Wisemen found the Shepherds
