Out of the Common has been working with artforms from a diverse range of cultures; from South Asian Katak dance to Live Coded Algorave and live VJs.  Brought together by musician and producer Farhad Ahmed with artistic support by Queen of Harps, Hamshya Rajkumar and Ali Gillies.

Out of the Common are Karen Sutherland, Omar James, Maryam Zaki aka Bebe Dulcie and Sanjeev Mann aka Supermann on da Beat.

A little bit about our artists;

Karen Sutherland
Karen is an experimental artist and wheelchair user who cares about making everything accessible. At our show you will experience Karen’s music production using gestural instrument through Mi Mu gloves and her exploring her authentic experiences through songwriting.
“…. Dance seems inaccessible for a wheelchair user but watch this space!  Anything can be tailored to an individual and there is power in this partnership…”

Bebe Dulcie is a poet who has been exploring music production influenced by her Egyptian heritage.

Omar James is a musician and founder of OJ Studios; he will explore the innovative world of live coded music and Algorave.

Supermann on da Beat
Charting producer, central figure & pioneer in the UK scene, Supermann on da beat is a Scottish Disabled South Asian Music Producer bringing a blend of influences, across genres to create unique tracks without borders.

Out of the Common is a Drake Music Scotland project supported by PPL.
