Scotland’s first International Festival of Europe – Talking Europe

In cooperation, the European Movement in Scotland has created Scotland’s first international Festival of Europe. The theme is ‘Talking Europe’ and we are bringing together an outstanding cast of speakers and organisations from Scotland, the UK and Europe to deliver a stimulating and important weekend of talks, and debate, and alongside the conversations the world renowned Demarco Archives of collaborative work by artists across Europe will be open to all, and Madeleina Kay’s award winning ‘Brexiles’ exhibition will be on display.
The Festival is being held on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May at one of Scotland’s most vibrant cultural venues, Summerhall, Edinburgh.
Key speakers include Cabinet Secretary Angus Robertson, SNP, David Martin, former Labour MEP, former Liberal Democrat MEP, Sir Graham Watson, Ian Murray, MP. Stephen Gethins, Professor of Practice in International Relations at the University of St Andrews, and a former SNP MP, Jo Shaw who holds the Salvesen Chair of European Institutions at Edinburgh University and heads its Law School and Brigid Laffan, Chancellor at University of Limerick and Emeritus Professor at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute.
The weekend will also include contributions from speakers from the European Movement in Scotland, Citizens’ Rights Project, New Europeans, The University of Glasgow, Scottish Advisory Forum on Europe, The Royal Society of Edinburgh, Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, and the British Chambers of Commerce.
