Summerhall Presents: Fair Play
Tue 30 Nov 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
£10Edinburgh’s favourite independent performing arts venue Summerhall is working with international cultural phenomenon Fair Saturday this St Andrew’s Day to present FAIR PLAY, celebrating some of the artists who’ve been involved with Summerhall’s Artist Development Programme.
There’ll be dance from Katie Armstrong with HAND//SHAKE and Róisín O’Brien’s A Falling Ballet, spoken word from John Osborne (My Car Plays Tapes) and Colin Bramwell, who will perform an extract from Three Pints on a Sunday (produced by Colin Bramwell and Hannah Lavery), supported through the Summerhall Lab mini-residency. There’s a screening of a new short film, Auntie Empire, created by Julia Taudevin, Niamh McKeown and Jana Robert following a Summerhall Lab week. The night will be rounded off with music from a surprise guest, and it’s all MC’d by the Autopsy Award winning (Daddy Drag, Fringe 2019) poet and theatre maker Leyla Josephine.
After a tough time for the arts, please join us to celebrate the creativity and resilience of some of the talented artists who’ve been supported by Summerhall. Our artist development programme has continued over the last 18 months, adapted for a world living with Covid-19, and thanks to support from Creative Scotland’s Sustaining Creative Development Programme. Theatre-makers, musicians, poets, actors, dancers and writers have received space, time and money to develop new work.
All profits from tickets sold for Fair Play will go towards the continuation of our artist development programme.
St Andrew’s Fair Saturday is a Scottish Government initiative which is being delivered by the Fair Saturday Foundation.
