Summerhall Surgeries: Event Two

Summerhall Surgeries is Summerhall’s brand new artist development initiative in partnership with the Fringe Society. Running throughout August as part of the Fringe, the Surgeries will see 16 lead artists showcase excerpts of unfinished work to an audience of peers and industry figures.

This event offers a behind-the-scenes looks into some of the most innovative work coming from Scottish, UK-based and global artists. After the show, you will be able to constructive feedback to artists and participate in an informal conversation / networking session in Summerhall’s courtyard.

Summerhall Surgeries: Event Two will present the following artists and their work:

• A quest for rest by Ariella Como Stoian: a gamified experience of ME/CFS, placing the domestic sphere of a chronically-ill player character in far off natural settings.
• Lynn Faces by Laura Horton: on the brink of 40 and painfully shy, Leah starts a punk band inspired by Lynn from Alan Partridge.
• Jeezus Fucking Christ! by Sergio Maggiolo: part play, part cabaret, Jeezus Fucking Christ! explores the intersectionality of growing up Queer in Catholic Latin America and fantasising with having hot sex with Jesus Christ.
• Becoming Jeff Bezos by Alex Medland: a play about a capitalist, an outcast, and the last UberEats Voucher in the world.
