This event offers a behind-the-scenes looks into some of the most innovative work coming from Scottish, UK-based and global artists. After the show, you will be able to constructive feedback to artists and participate in an informal conversation / networking session in Summerhall’s courtyard.

This event page is for Summerhall Surgeries: Event One.

When? 14.35 – 15.35 on Tuesday 8th August.

Where? Main Hall, Summerhall.

Summerhall Surgeries: Event One will present the following artists and their work:

  • The Selkie’s Wife by Elisabeth Flett: a new folk gig theatre performance re-imagining an old tale from a freshly queer and fiercely feminist perspective.
  • Wrappers by Rowan Heggie: an autobiographical performance investigating the relationships between grief, food, and how we relate to our bodies when they turn against us.
  • I Think We Will Stay by Raphael Highgate-Betts: a highly visual, compelling immersive performance exploring how we find love and peace in our own bodies.
  • The Dreaming by Althea Young: a choreographic-text based work asking how we reckon with the desire to bear children when we don’t feel we have the means to offer a child the tools to thrive in an increasingly uninhabitable world.
