Summerhall Surgeries: Event Three

Summerhall Surgeries is Summerhall’s brand new artist development initiative in partnership with the Fringe Society. Running throughout August as part of the Fringe, the Surgeries will see 16 lead artists showcase excerpts of unfinished work to an audience of peers and industry figures.
This event offers a behind-the-scenes looks into some of the most innovative work coming from Scottish, UK-based and global artists. After the show, you will be able to constructive feedback to artists and participate in an informal conversation / networking session in Summerhall’s courtyard.

Summerhall Surgeries: Event Three will present the following artists and their work:
- Rehearsal Nuremberg by Edward Eng: a play in development that recounts and reenacts Doe v. Exxon Mobil Corp, a lawsuit filed in the US by 11 Indonesians against the oil and gas major ExxonMobil, which took over 20 years to go to trial.
- Lithium Ocean by Scott Lyons: a new-writing/clowning show set in a futurist fantasy kingdom, where a spoilt, cannibalistic Prince has been informed that the hereditary monarchy system is now transitioning to an elective system.
- SHOWERHEAD by Dix McDevitt: a play about an Environmental Science student rediscovering romance, eroticism and joy after becoming severely depressed by the state of the climate.
- The Land That Never Was by Liam Rees: a storytelling show about real life conman Gregor McGregor who exploited Scotland’s colonial desires by inventing and selling a country that literally did not exist.
