Knitting can be a way of preserving cultural records and passing them down through generations. In this presentation, Sylvia shares her creative journey and how she communicates her sense of identity through hand knitting and embraces the art of storytelling through her designs.
This is a project-based class providing an introduction to Fair Isle knitting using dpns. You will produce a small sample in the round which can be made into a cover for a small lavender bag while learning how to knit with yarn in both hands, read charts and other general techniques.

They are used for everyday wear, weddings and also christenings. She will be showing examples of her own and her mother’s lace knitting and haps.
