Brass Cat Design

Brass Cat Design is the brand name of the beautiful jewellery created by local artist, Denise Gibson. Working from her studio in Dalry, Edinburgh, she creates a wide range of jewellery using silver, copper and gold.

Several collections are heavily inspired by the whimsically feminine feel of nature, in which Denise uses natural textures and shapes to form the basis of her designs. Contrasting works embrace the strength of geometric forms complimented with soft, natural, organic finishes. Animal lovers can’t resist the cute and quirky side of her work; with cats, highland cows and bunnies to name a few.

As well as using traditional jewellery smithing techniques with sterling silver, copper and gold wire, Denise uses silver and copper clay, which is a wonderfully creative medium. The clay is cut and shaped by hand, with textures created from moulds that she makes, leaves, fabrics, and other found items.
