Wooltide

Hallo I am Jen, a self-taught textile artist working with preloved clothing and other recycled materials to hand-craft individual and characterful creatures under the name of ‘wooltide’.

My work is both light-hearted and playful and I have a lot of fun making 3-dimensional fabric creations. Sustainability and waste reduction are important to me and it is an enjoyable challenge to find and use the appropriate fabrics to create my bespoke 3D animal portraits.

Although my creations are relatively simplistic in design I use shape, texture and colour to capture the essence of the animal in question. Using recycled materials means an inventive and creative approach is repeatedly required. This inevitably results in each small batch of creatures created being limited editions.

I use machine and hand sewing techniques as well as gluing and wood preparation skills to create wooltide creations. All the sewing patterns are my own.
