Darkroom Ecology
Darkroom Ecology
Fusing photography, sculpture, and installation, environmental artist Scott Hunter explores the co existence of ecological and industrial materials by crafting alternative representations of cultural landscapes. Darkroom Ecology is a sculptural work that proposes photography as a closed-loop ecosystem. By acknowledging photography’s complicity in heavy metal pollutants, the installation extends photography -beyond the printed image and camera- to the entire network of beings, processes, and materials involved in making an image, from metal extraction to toxic waste disposal. The work proposes an alternative solution to contaminated industrial landscapes and current analogue photography practices. Presented by Summerhall and ASCUS Art and Science
