Wall Drawing No. 1
Roger Elliot
Permanent Exhibition
Wall Drawing No.1 explores the perception of the expressive potential of rational structures. It is not to be stood in front of, but rather moved around, from right to left and then back again. By viewing the drawing from different angles, we perceive a three-dimensional movement created by the geometric arrangement, resembling the isometric intersection of a cube. However austere the conception, the wall drawing is not simply analytic in character, but also subtle and sensual.
It is the simple expression of a complex thought, proposing a situation of multiplicity in which the extension of the module elicits variable readings but without sacrifice of a consistent structure.
